Overview

Hypnosis is a collaborative process that supports meaningful change by working with the subconscious mind and imagination. It can be helpful for people who want to shift long-standing patterns, explore limiting beliefs, or gain clarity around emotional or behavioral challenges.

Hypnosis uses relaxation, focused attention, and reduced awareness of external distractions to create an inwardly focused state, similar to meditation or daydreaming. This trance state is self-induced, and most people access it easily and naturally. Throughout the process, you remain aware, present, and in control.

As a facilitator, my role is to gently guide the process by helping you access internal patterns, meanings, and associations in a way that aligns with your goals and values. Hypnosis can be used on its own or alongside other forms of support and is approached as a tool for exploration rather than something done to you.

Common Reasons People Seek Hypnosis

I work with clients on a wide range of concerns through personalized hypnosis sessions, including (but not limited to):

✓ Abundance ✓ Acceptance ✓ Anxiety
✓ Boundaries ✓ Change ✓ Clarity ✓ Confidence ✓ Creativity
✓ Dream Work ✓ Feeling Lost or Stuck ✓ Fears and Phobias
✓ Goal Setting ✓ Grief and Loss ✓ Inner Conflict ✓ Internal Patterns
✓ Letting Go ✓ Mindfulness ✓ Motivation ✓ Overall Well-Being
✓ Personal Growth ✓ Problem Solving ✓ Procrastination
✓ Relationships ✓ Self-Compassion ✓ Self-Esteem ✓ Stress Management

Potential Benefits of Hypnosis

Hypnosis may support change in different ways and at different paces. While some shifts can be felt immediately, many benefits emerge gradually over time.

Clients may experience:

  • Greater emotional clarity and insight

  • Reduced stress, anxiety, or emotional tension

  • Shifts in long-standing thought patterns or beliefs

  • Increased self-trust, confidence, and resilience

  • Improved emotional regulation and well-being

  • A deeper sense of self-acceptance

Possible After-Effects of Hypnosis

Because hypnosis works with subconscious and somatic patterns, the body and mind may go through a short and temporary period of adjustment. I recommend keeping brief notes between sessions to notice any changes or shifts.

Some after-effects may include:

  • Drowsiness, dizziness, or headache upon emerging

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • Emotional sensitivity

  • Increased awareness of thoughts

What Hypnosis May Feel Like

There is no “right” way to feel hypnotized, and none of these indicators are required for hypnosis to be effective. Each person’s experience is unique.

Physical indicators:

  • Deep relaxation

  • A sense of heaviness, lightness, or tingling

  • Slower breathing

  • Reduced awareness of external distractions

  • Eyes may close naturally

Emotional & mental indicators:

  • Access to deeper emotional states

  • Heightened inward focus

  • Increased receptivity to verbal imagery

  • An altered sense of time

  • Greater insight or perspective

How Information May Present Itself

While imagery is commonly expected, people process their hypnosis experience in different and equally valid ways.

Information may present itself through:

  • An inner knowing

  • Visual impressions

  • Emotional or physical sensations

  • Internal dialogue

  • Sensory impressions, such as sound, taste, or smell

Understanding My Approach

Facilitator, Not Healer
I am a facilitator of the process. My role is to gently guide you into a relaxed state, ask thoughtful and non-leading questions, and support visualization and somatic exploration. I help you access your own wisdom and make connections that feel meaningful to you, so you can bring resolution to your issue or situation.

The Body–Mind Connection
Your body holds valuable information. It is often where you feel the “yes” or “no” of a decision, and where fear or resistance shows up. There is a strong connection between what the body feels and the meaning we assign to an issue. When that meaning begins to shift, the body often follows by softening and releasing tension or stress.

The Role of Imagination
Imagination and visualization are powerful tools for exploration and change. They can offer insight and meaning around an issue or situation you’re facing. These tools make it possible to view experiences from different perspectives or gently reshape the stories and beliefs that influence your life experience.

Non-Linear Change
Healing and resolution are rarely linear. Many issues are deeply layered and multifaceted and may take multiple sessions or different approaches to fully work through. Setbacks are not failures, but part of the body’s natural integration process as it adjusts to change.

What to Expect During a Hypnosis Session

Pre-Session Discussion
We’ll take time to discuss your goals, intentions, and any questions you may have. This helps ensure the session is aligned with what you want to explore.

Relaxation Induction
While you are seated or lying down, I’ll guide you through a progressive relaxation process and gentle deepening techniques to support a comfortable, focused state of attention.

Establishing Focus
Using your imagination, I may invite you to envision a safe or comfortable place to begin the session. This helps establish focus and supports a sense of calm before deeper exploration.

Exploration
I may guide you to connect with the emotional, physical, or felt sense related to what you’d like to work with. From there, we’ll explore the thoughts, beliefs, and patterns connected to your experience.

Creating Resolution
Depending on the issue you’d like to work with, or what emerges during exploration, I may use visualization, symbolic or archetypal work, timeline exploration, or gentle suggestion to support clarity, release, or integration.

Conclusion and Review
We’ll conclude by gradually bringing the session to a close, reviewing your experience, and addressing any questions or reflections you may have.

Signs of Integration or Ongoing Change

You may not feel noticeably different during or immediately after hypnosis. While some changes can be noticeable right away, others are more subtle and may unfold over time or across multiple sessions.

Signs of integration or change may include:

  • Shifts in perception, thought, or belief

  • Subtle changes in behavior or increased pattern awareness

  • Greater emotional resilience

  • Increased clarity around your explored issue

  • Greater self-awareness

Clarifications About Hypnosis

Hypnosis Is Not A State of Unconsciousness
During hypnosis, you remain awake, aware, and able to respond. Many people describe the experience as similar to deep relaxation, meditation, or focused daydreaming, and some notice very little difference between trance and ordinary awareness.

Hypnosis Does Not Override Your Values or Sense of Self
During hypnosis, you remain aligned with what feels right to you. You will only engage with or retain suggestions or insights that resonate with your values, boundaries, and intentions.

Hypnosis Does Not Erase Memories
While many people wish they could forget a painful relationship or experience, hypnosis doesn’t remove memories. Instead, it helps distill the emotional charge they hold, so you can address underlying beliefs, patterns, or meanings.

Hypnosis Is Rarely A Cure-all or A Quick Fix
It is a process that supports insight, awareness, and change. While some concerns may shift quickly, many forms of change unfold over time through awareness, integration, and engagement.

Not All Memories That Arise During Hypnosis Are Literal or Factual
Experiences recalled during hypnosis may be symbolic, metaphorical, or shaped by imagination, emotion, or past learning. What matters most is the insight or meaning they offer in relation to your current experience.

Trance Depth Varies From Person to Person and From Session to Session
There is no required level of trance for hypnosis to be effective. Many people move in and out of different degrees of focus during a session. Meaningful change can occur at any stage.

The Conscious Mind Does Not Turn Off During Hypnosis
The presence of intrusive thoughts during a session is normal. While techniques may help support focus, these thoughts do not interfere with the process or its effectiveness.
